Room 27 | Sarah Stapelberg

About The Room

My work explores memento mori and the cyclical nature of life and death, drawing on personal and social rituals?births, weddings, funerals?that acknowledge our mortality. Using photography, family albums, and autobiographical mementos combined with paper, fabric, flowers, and thorns, I weave themes of history, memory, myth, and renewal. Through repetitive, ritualistic techniques like embroidery and sewing, I create layered works that invite reflection on transience, remembrance, and redemption.
